An 18-year-old man remains in hospital in a stable condition following the shooting
A man aged 22 has been arrested in connection with the investigation into a shooting that left a man aged 18 in hospital.
In a statement released today, Greater Manchester Police said:
“We’ve made a ninth arrest in connection with a firearms discharge on Shaw Road in Oldham on Thursday 16 January 2025, where an 18-year-old man suffered serious injuries.
Today (Monday 27 January 2025), officers from our Force Critical Wanted Unit, who are supporting the Major Incident Team, arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and assisting an offender.
Out of the other eight arrests made, one has been charged and the other seven bailed as we continue to investigate.
The victim remains in a stable condition.
Detective Chief Inspector Charlotte Whalley, Senior Investigating Officer, said, “We are continuing to make progress in this complex and large investigation, and I hope that hearing of a further arrest reassures the public about the seriousness of which we are treating it.
“Local officers have continued to give reassurance to the community and maintain a visible presence as enquiries have continued.
“Our appeal for any information about this incident remains live, and we encourage anyone who knows anything, and hasn’t previously been in touch with us, to come forward.”
