A man who had to be tasered by the police following reports of a disturbance and a man armed with a knife has been charged.
Officers were called to Burford Road at the junction of Withington Road in the Whalley Range area of Manchester on Thursday to reports of a disturbance. On arrival a man armed with a knife began damaging a police vehicle and had to be tasered to the ground and handcuffed.
In an update posted today, Greater Manchester Police said:
“We’ve secured charges following reports of a disturbance on Burford Road at the junction of Withington Road on Thursday 23 January 2025.
Jamal Walker-Bailey (26/05/1999) of Burford Road, Manchester has been charged with six counts of attempted S18 assault and one count each of criminal damage, assault of an emergency worker, possession of cannabis and possession of a bladed article in public.
He is appearing in Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court this morning (Saturday 25 January 2025).”
