A man remains in custody on suspicion of various sexual offences
A manhunt was launched after girls had reported being approached by a man in Accrington.
Lancashire Police made several cctv appeals over the weekend for the assistance of the public in identifying a man as part of their investigation.
The force has since confirmed a convicted sex offender has been arrested and remains in custody.
In a social media post made today, Lancashire Police said:
“Over the weekend we have been asking for your help identifying a man we want to speak to around reports he had approached young girls in Accrington town centre and acted inappropriately towards them.
Just to update you we have now arrested a man on suspicion of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, possessing indecent images of children and causing a child to watch a sexual act. He remains in custody at this time.
