M6 Southbound closure near Preston due to crash

The carriageway is currently closed whilst emergency services deal with the incident

The M6 Southbound carriageway is currently closed near Preston due to a collision this afternoon.

Traffic is being diverted off the motorway by the entry slip roads whilst emergency services attend the collision.

National Highways have said delays of up to sixty minutes are expected.

Posting on X, National Highways said:

“The M6 in Lancashire is now closed southbound within J31 Preston following a collision.

LancsPolice are in attendance.

Traffic is being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads.

Delays of at least 60 minutes, please allow extra journey time.

Thank you for your patience.”
