The road is likely to remain closed whilst recovery gets underway
A road closure has been put in place this morning due to a stuck lorry.
Lancashire Police said that Whalley Old Road is closed at the junctions of Whalley Road and York Lane and is likely to be the case until they clear the road.
Images from the scene shared on social media show a lorry that looks to have become stuck whilst trying to negotiate a turning.
In a social media post earlier, Lancashire Police said:
“We want to update you and let you know that Whalley Old Road is currently closed at the junctions Whalley Road and York Lane due to a HGV stuck at the location.
We anticipate that the road will be closed for a short amount of time, whilst we clear the road.
In the meantime, we’d recommend looking for an alternative route and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination.
We’ll keep tabs on what’s happening and we’ll update you here once the road is open. As always, thank you for your patience and stay safe if you’re out and about today.”
