Man struck to head and another stabbed with bottle before being indecently exposed to in Blackburn

The man has been remanded into custody to appear at Magistrates Court today

A man has been charged with various offences following an incident whereby a man suffered a fractured skull and another was stabbed with a bottle before being indecently exposed to in Blackburn.

In a statement released today, Lancashire Police said:

“We wanted to let you know about some charges we have secured after an incident in Blackburn town centre earlier this week.

We were called to Flemming Square at just after 6pm on Wednesday (January 15th) to reports of an assault.

A man in his 40s was struck to the head ad knocked to the floor and suffered a fractured skull. A second man, in his 50s, was stabbed in the hand with a broken bottle.

During the assault the attacker also exposed himself.

Officers attended and a man in his 20s was arrested.

Martin Bennell (05/10/2001), of St Peter Street, Blackburn, has been charged with two counts of section 18 wounding, common assault and exposure.

He has been remanded to appear at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court today (Friday, January 17th)”
