Homeless woman exploited for likes on Tiktok dies after being found unresponsive in city centre

A homeless woman who was paid to sing songs and dance in freezing fountains during winter has died after being found unresponsive.

Keely Thornton, 34, known as tiktok Keely was found unresponsive in Sheffield City Centre on Tuesday evening, despite the best efforts of members of the public providing CPR at the scene medical professionals were unable to save her and Keely sadly died later in hospital.

South Yorkshire Police are now probing the unexplained death, and a woman in her 40s who was arrested on suspicion of administrating a noxious substance has since been released on bail.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said:

“We were made aware by the ambulance service of a woman unconscious on Arundel Gate in Sheffield city centre.

Officers attended and the woman, 34, was found to be receiving treatment at the scene.

She was conveyed to hospital by paramedics but was sadly pronounced dead on arrival.

Her death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Her family has been notified.

A scene was established, which was later removed, and a 47-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of administering a noxious substance.

She has since been released on police bail as enquiries continue.”
