The 19-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment
Two men have been arrested after a teenager was stabbed in the chest on Tuesday evening in Wavertree.
In a statement released today, Merseyside Police said:
“Just before 6pm, we received a report that had a 19-year-old man had been stabbed in the area of Bishopgate Street, Wavertree.
The victim, has been taken to hospital, for treatment a serious injury to his chest. His injuries are not being treated as life threatening.
Crime Scene Investigators are carrying out forensic examinations at the scene and officers are conducting house-to-house inquiries. CCTV footage will also be examined in a bid to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Detective Sergeant George Easterbrook, said “We are in the very early stages of the investigation and are appealing to anyone who has any information, or witnessed the incident to come forward and speak to us.
“Two men, aged 18 from 19 from Wavertree been arrested and taken to a police station, where they will be interviewed by detectives.”
“There is no place for knives in our communities and we will always seek to take positive action when we have information about people are storing, carrying or using weapons. I would urge anyone with information to get in touch so we can act on community intelligence, or call Crimestoppers anonymously.”
