No arrests have been made and detectives are working to establish who did this and why
An 82-year-old man has been hospitalised after being attacked at a bus stop in Handsworth, with police describing his condition as critical.
In an appeal made today, West Midlands Police said:
“We’re appealing for help after an 82-year-old man was seriously injured when he was attacked on the Soho Road in Handsworth.
The victim was waiting at the 74 bus stop, near the junction with Boulton Road, when he was attacked at around 3.30pm yesterday (14 January).
The attacker left the scene and the victim was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition today.
Det Supt Shaun Edwards, from our Major Crime Unit, said: “We’re urgently reviewing CCTV and speaking to witnesses as we work to understand what happened and why, and who was responsible.
“If you were in the area at the time and saw what happened, or think you may have captured any part of what happened on dashcam or mobile phone, it’s vital you get in touch with as soon as possible.”
