All three remain in police custody for questioning
Three men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a firearms discharge in Cheetham Hill.
In a statement released today, Greater Manchester Police said:
“On Friday 10 January, we were called to reports of a firearms discharge on Ermington Drive in Cheetham Hill.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported, but since we were called to the incident, officers and resources from across Greater Manchester Police have been deployed to identify those involved.
On Sunday night, we arrested a 23 year old man following a successful warrant at an address in Moston.
Over the last 72 hours, specialist officers from our Force Critical Wanted Unit have been searching for the outstanding suspects, and last night, armed officers arrested two further men, aged 22 and 26, on Bury Old Road on suspicion of attempted murder.
All three remain in police custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Terina Arthern from our North Manchester district said:
“Since Friday, resources from across the force have been deployed to catch those responsible. Investigations into serious incidents involving firearms are robust, utilising specialist resources to understand the circumstances that led to violence erupting, arrest suspects, and build strong case files to support prosecution.
“I hope this shows residents that we are committed and equipped to catching harmful offenders, and acts as a deterrent to anyone who may be considering violence in this community.”
Tonight (Tuesday 14 January), you’ll see some of the work of our Force Critical Wanted Unit on Channel 4, with their new series of ‘Manhunt’ airing at 9pm.
