The road is expected to be closed for some time
Police are advising motorists to find an alternative route this evening due to a road closure near Lancaster University.
This is due to a road traffic collision, emergency services are on scene, and the A6 at Bailrigg is currently closed with no access to the university as a result.
The force as advised the road will be closed for some time.
In a social media post, Lancashire Police said:
“We are currently dealing with a road traffic collision on the A6 near to the University of Lancaster site at Bailrigg.
The A6 and the surrounding area of the University is going to be shut for some time and there is no access currently to the University.
Please avoid the area if you can and follow any instructions from the officers on the scene if you need to travel in this area.
