A 41-year-old man remains in custody for questioning following his arrest

A man in his 40d has been arrested as part of an investigation into the rape and assault of a woman in Preston.

In an update released today, Lancashire Police said:

“You may remember that last week we asked for your help to find a man we wanted to trace as part of an investigation into the rape and assault of a woman in Preston and we wanted to update you.

As a reminder we were called at shortly after midnight on Wednesday 8th January 2025 to a report that a woman in her 30s had been raped and assaulted on Meadow Street, Preston

An investigation is being conducted by a dedicated team of Detectives supported by specialist officers. The victim continues to be supported by specialist officers.

As part of our enquiries, we are released images of a man we wanted to speak to and yesterday a 41-year-old man was arrested and is currently in custody.

We are grateful to everyone who helped by coming forward with information following our appeal.”
