Man Charged with murder following death of Karen Youdell in North Manchester

He will appear in court charged with the offence in January

A man has been charged following the death of Karen Youdell in North Manchester.

Officers were called to Rose Bank Road to report a woman who had been attacked back in July 2023.

Mum of four Karen, 49 was taken to hospital with serious injuries but never regained consciousness and sadly died in May this year.

Dean Johnstone was originally charged with attempted murder but following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service this has now been amended to murder.

In an update posted today, Greater Manchester Police said:

“Dean Johnstone (22/05/1981), of no fixed abode, has now had his charges amended from attempted murder and assault to murder.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Wednesday 22 January 2024.

This is following the death of Karen Youdell after reports were received of an attack on Rose Bank Road, North Manchester back in July 2023. She sadly later passed away from her injuries in May 2024.”
