Boy 15 Charged As Part Of Harehills Disorder Investigation

A 15-year-old boy is the latest to be charged following an investigation into disorder in Harehills in the summer.

In a statement released today, West Yorkshire Police said:

“A teenage male is to appear before magistrates after being charged with alleged offending committed during the summer disorder in Harehills.

The 15-year-old ( who cannot be named for legal reasons) and who is from Harehills, will appear before the morning session of Leeds Magistrate’s Court today (Tuesday December 31st) charged with using or threatening unlawful violence.

West Yorkshire Police continues to conduct a wide-ranging investigation into the disorder on July 18th and 19th which caused significant distress to residents in the Harehills area.           

Officers have made substantial use of all technological tools available to the force including CCTV and the use of facial recognition technology.  “

More than 40 arrests have so far been made following the disorder, with fifteen people charged and five sentenced.
