Detectives are extremely concerned for the woman’s welfare following the reports on Saturday
Detectives are appealing for information about a vehicle they would like to trace after it was reported a woman who tried exiting the car was dragged back inside and assaulted before it drove off in Stockport.
In an appeal made today, Greater Manchester Police said:
“We are extremely concerned for the safety of a woman after a report was made that on Saturday 28 December 2024, a woman tried to exit a vehicle at the crossroads of Rostherne Road and Garners Lane, Stockport, but was dragged back in and assaulted.
The last sighting of what is described as a dark coloured hatchback car was shortly after 6.30am yesterday, heading towards Davenport Train Station.
The woman is described as being white, wearing dark coloured leggings and UGG boots. The driver is described as a white man wearing a black coat or jumper.
PC Natalie Jamieson of Stockport CID said, “We have been conducting house to house, CCTV and dashcam footage enquiries since the report, trying to establish the full circumstances of what may have happened.
“So far, these enquiries have proven negative for locating the woman or driver, and we are now in a position of needing to appeal for the wider public’s help.
“At the centre of this is potentially a woman who is in need or urgent safeguarding or medical care, and we need to locate her as soon as possible.”
