Man Suffers Life-threatening Injuries After Being Dragged Off Bicycle In Christmas Eve Horror Attack

GMP are appealing for witnesses to the attack to come forward

A man has suffered life-threatening injuries following a horror attack on Christmas Eve in Greater Manchester.

In a statement released today, Greater Manchester Police said:

“Police were called just before 6.30pm yesterday evening (24 December 2024) by the ambulance service to reports that a man had been found with serious injuries to his face in Moss Side

Enquiries so far have established that the victim was cycling down Viscount Street before he was dragged off his bike by another man.

It is believed that whilst the victim was on the floor, he was assaulted and suffered injuries to his face and head.

The victim, who is a 49-year-old man, sadly suffered life-changing and life-threatening injuries that has required surgery. He remains in a serious condition in hospital.

After conducting several lines of enquiry, we are now in a position to appeal for any witnesses to come forward to speak to detectives to assist the investigation.

Detective Inspector Lee Newburn of GMP’s City of Manchester Criminal Investigation Department said; “This is a shocking attack that has left a victim with devastating injuries on Christmas Eve.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anything to speak to us to help us build a full timeline of events leading up to this assault, we are also appealing to those residents who live near Viscount Street to come forward if they saw anything suspicious yesterday evening.

“This could be eyewitness accounts, CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage at the time of the incident or leading up to or after the assault.”
