Eight people have so far been arrested in connection with Jacqueline’s death but no charges have yet been brought
The family of Jacqueline Rutter have issued a new tribute as they prepare to spend a second Christmas without her.
Jacqueline, aged 53, was shot in the chest in her own home on Meadowbrook Road, in Moreton, at around 1am on Sunday 30 October 2022.
The murder is being treated as a targeted incident and detectives believe two or three people were involved in the shooting.
A total of eight people have been arrested in connection with the murder, but as yet nobody has been charged.
In a new tribute issued on Monday 23 December, they said:
“Our second Christmas without you and it still doesn’t feel real that this is your reality, murdered at the hands of someone else in the most cruel way.
“Every day we sit here and wonder why your killers had to make it so final for you and cause a lifetime of suffering on your family and friends.
“You chose to shoot Jackie. She was terrified. She ran to her step dad where she collapsed and died in his arms. How would you feel if this was your mum, sister or relative?”
Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath is leading the investigation into Jacqueline’s murder:
“Two years on, and our thoughts and sympathies remain with Jacqueline’s family and friends at this immensely difficult time.
“The determination of our whole team to put those responsible before the courts and see justice served remains as strong as ever, and the investigation is progressing.
“A number of people remain under active investigation but I still want to make it clear that we believe more information is out there to assist us. If you know anything, do not hesitate to get in touch. Don’t assume what you know is trivial or already known. We will make that assessment, and I can assure people who may feel fearful of coming forward that we will deal with all information sensitively, whether you come to us directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
“We believe at least two or three people were involved in this incident, and we will not stop until we find them. If you are close to any of the people who were responsible for this appalling incident, please search your conscience and come forward with what you know, so that Jacqueline’s family can finally find peace and justice.”
