Officers were responding to reports of large groups of youths when they were met with threats and abusive language
A boy aged 13 is set to appear in court charged with a public order offence in Bacup.
This is following an investigation into disorder in the town centre when reports of large groups delivered a barrage of abuse towards Police officers, which included threatening behaviour and abusive language.
In a statement released today, Lancashire Police said:
“We have charged a teenager following disorder in Bacup town centre.
On the 20th August 2024, following reports of large groups of youths, officers attending the scene were met with threatening behaviour and abusive language.
On the 28th August, Rossendale Police arrested a 13-year-old boy from Bacup on suspicion of affray and Section 4 Public Order.
We can now tell you that the 13-year-old boy from Bacup has been charged with Section 4 Public order and has been bailed with conditions. He will appear at Preston Youth Court on 5th December, 2024.”
