Trains Disrupted As Lorry Hits Bridge In Burnley

A road closure remains in place whilst emergency services attended the scene

Emergency services are currently attending the scene of a road traffic collision in Burnley.

A Lorry has collided with a bridge this evening on Barden Lane with road closures in place.

The collision happened shortly after 5pm. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area whilst emergency services deal with the incident.

Trains between Burnley Central and Colne are disrupted as a result.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said:

“We’re currently at the scene of a road closure on Barden Lane, from the junction with Lower Manor Lane to the junction with Windermere Avenue in Burnley.

Please be aware that we have also had to close Windermere Avenue.

The road is closed due to a road traffic collision and we anticipate this will be closed for a number of hours.

We’ll provide an update once cleared and thank you in advance for your patience.”

Lancashire Police have been approached for further details.

Northern Rail posting on X said:

“Services between Burnley Central and Colne are currently being disrupted due to a lorry colliding with a bridge.

Network Rail engineers are expected on site at 18:40.”
