Police are warning everyone to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to action fraud
Lancashire Police are warning people to ve vigilant online after a vulnerable person was scammed out of over £40,000 through social media
In a message sent out today, Lancashire Police said:
“Please can we make you aware, A vulnerable person in the Nelson/Barrowford has been target in one of the most abhorrent crimes.
Our aggrieved party was contacted on social media by someone they believed was an old acquaintance ( offender using made up profile ).
This profile has discussed home improvements and has offered said home improvements through two companies they claimed to operate, in truth just using payment transfer sites. LUMAN PAY LTD and FOREX
In total, over £40,000 has been scammed from the aggrieved party, with no agreed work carried out.
this incident is being fully investigated by ourselves, the aggrieves bank and also Action Fraud.

If you have fallen victim, please do not be ashamed or embarrassed, these criminals use increasing more complex tactics to take advantage of people and achieve their goals.
The action fraud website also has plenty of advice and recourses to try and prevent these sorts of offences from occurring.
