Man Wearing Balaclava Detained Outside Leyland Primary School

Police incident outside the school was quickly dealt with according to a spokesperson for the school.

A primary school has been forced into lockdown this morning due to a police incident.

Moss Side primary school on Paradise Lane in Leyland was placed into lockdown at around 9am amid a police incident close by.

Posting on a local community group one parent said:

” Just had a terrifying phone call from my daughter, moss side primary school been on lockdown.”

Another local residents said that an offender allegedly in possession of a weapon was arrested nearby.

A message sent out to parents from the school seen by us read: “Quick message that we are all fine, an incident outside the school premises has been dealt with by the police. Everyone is safe.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said:

“We were called to Paradise Lane, Leyland, at 8.50am today (15th November) following a report a man had been seen close to a school wearing a balaclava and acting suspiciously.

Our officers quickly attended and detained a man in his 40s.

This is being treated as an isolated incident and there is no perceived wider threat to the public.
