Fire Breaks Out At Blackburn Mosque

No injuries were reported and the fire caused limited damage to the building

A fire broke out at a mosque in Blackburn on Thursday afternoon.

The fire happened at the Masjid É Saliheen Mosque on Didsbury Street in the town shortly after 1.30pm.

Firefighters from Blackburn and Darwen attended the blaze and used one hose reel, a jet, and other specialist equipment to extinguish the fire.

A source close to the Mosque posting on social media said:

“Thank you for your kind words. I can confirm it was a surface spread of flames whilst some work was going on, was quickly controlled and damage was limited thanks to our amazing fire service.

Luckily no one was injured and all is well.”

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said:

“At 13:33 on 14 November 2024, three fire engines from Blackburn and Darwen attended a commercial premises on Didsbury Street, Blackburn.

Firefighters extinguished a fire involving the eaves of the building using one hose reel, one jet, thermal imaging camera, one impact driver and P3 mask.

Fire crews were on scene for approximately one hour and ten minutes.”
