Lorry stopped on the M6 near Lancaster carrying blocks of cannabis worth £170k

A lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of drug offences following a stop by Lancashire Police on the M6 near Lancaster.

Officers stopped a lorry travelling on the M6 on Thursday evening and, on searching, discovered a quanity of blocks of cannabis worth in the region of £170,000.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled class b drug with intent to supply.

In a statement released today, Lancashire Police said:

A large quantity of drugs was seized when we stopped a lorry on the M6 near Lancaster.

The HGV was stopped by our officers at 7.40pm yesterday (7th November), on the northbound carriageway, close to junction 33.

When the vehicle was searched, 17 blocks of cannabis with a street value of around £170,000, were found.

The driver of the lorry, a 44-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of possession a Class B controlled drug with intent to supply. He’s currently in custody.
