The motorway is expected to be closed for several hours due to the collision
A full closure has been put in place on the M6 Motorway due to a serious collision.
The collision happened around 11:30am and involved an overturned lorry forcing a closure on both carriageways between Junction 32 and Junction 33 on Wednesday morning and also involved multiple vehicles.
Lancashire Police said earlier:
“We’re currently at the scene of a full closure on the M6 in between junctions 32-33 .
The motorway is closed due to a road traffic collision, and we anticipate this will be closed for a number of hours.
Thank you in advance for your patience.”

All three emergency services attended the collision, including the North West Air Ambulance.

A spokesperson for Fire & Rescue Service said:
“At 11:34 on 6 November 2024, five fire engines attended a multi-car road traffic collision on the M6 motorway, between junctions 32 and 33.
We are working with Lancashire Police and North West Ambulance Service to secure the scene.
The motorway is closed in both directions and will remain closed for some time. Crews are still in attendance.”
With the motorway set to be closed for a considerable amount of time, this is causing travel disruption through Preston as motorists seek to find alternative routes.

It is not yet known how many casualties and the nature of any injuries sustained following this collision.
