Residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed if they could smell smoke within the proximity
Emergency services descended on a scrapyard in Great Harwood on Monday night.
The fire happened at a local scrapyard on Meadow Street in the town sparking a multi-agency response.
At around midnight, Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service announced they were aware of an incident and that they were working alongside Lancashire Police and Hyndburn Borough Council to coordinate their response.
Residents were asked to keep doors and windows closed if they could smell smoke in the proximity.
White smoke could still be seen billowing from the building on Tuesday morning.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said:
The fire involved a scrapyard and that it appears to have burnt itself out. Firefighters will remain on scene throughout the day to monitor the site.
They have since said:
“We have received a number of enquiries regarding concerns about smoke in the Great Harwood area.
Partners are aware of the incident and supporting a response, which we expect to be ongoing throughout the day.

If you can smell or see smoke in the proximity, please keep your windows and doors closed.
