The road has now been fully reopened
A major road in Preston was closed die to an accident on Monday morning.
The collision happened on Ringway in Preston at the junction of Ribbleton Lane close to HMP Preston Prison shortly before 8am.
Motorists heading into Preston were asked to find alternative routes whilst emergency services dealt with the collision.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police posted on social media saying:
“Good morning, we are currently dealing with a road traffic accident on Ringway near to Preston Prison. As a result, we have had to close Ringway. Traffic is being diverted at this time via Ribbleton Lane. At the moment it is very busy, if you can choose your route please do.”
The road has since confirmed to have reopened but this has caused severe delays in the area.
An update posted onto social media, Preston Police said:
“Good morning. Ringway Preston has now reopened. However, there is still heavy traffic. Please plan your journey accordingly.”
They have since confirmed this to be a minor injury collision.
