A man has been identified confirm Lancashire Police after an appeal was made on Friday for members of the public to help identify a suspect wanted in connection with racially abusing an Uber driver in Bilsborrow.

It is alleged that on Friday 4th October at around 1:17am an uber picked up passengers from Guys Thatched Hamlet in Bilsborrow just of the A6 on Garstang Road but was forced to stop a short distance away after being subjected to racial abuse.

The passengers were asked to leave the cab with the driver also getting out of his vehicle. On doing so, a male passenger is alleged to have jumped into the drivers seat and drove the car for approx 10 meters.

In an appeal made on Friday, Lancashire Police said:

We want to speak to this man as part of our enquiries into an incident where an Uber driver was racially abused and his vehicle briefly driven away.

The man in the image got into the driver’s seat and drove the Uber for approximately 10 metres before stopping.”

Police are now seeking the public’s help in identifying the man. If you recognise him, please call 101 – log 0129 of 4th October 2024 – or email 6399@lancashire.police.uk.

They have since confirmed that the man they would like to speak to has been identified and will be spoken to about the allegations in due course.
