A dispersal order has been put in place in Ormskirk following reports of youths causing disorder in the town.
It gives Police the power to ask people to leave an area outlined in the map. They risk arrest if they return during the period the order is in place.
In a social media post, Lancashire Police said:
“A S34 Dispersal Order is now in place in Ormskirk Town Centre following multiple reports of youth related disorder in the town centre. The order is in place until 00:00 on 01/11/2024.
This order under S34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour and Policing Act 2014, gives Police Officers and PCSO’s the power to direct people who are engaging in anti-social behaviour or are likely to engage in anti-social behaviour. These powers will not be used on people lawfully going about their business. Under these powers officers can seize any items that can be used in ASB.
Should a person who has previously been directed to leave an area return, they will be committing a criminal offence and can be arrested.
The below map is the exclusion area and includes: Coronation Park, Park Road, Aughton Street, Church Street, Burscough Street, Morrisons Car Park, Two Saints Shopping Centre, Moor Street, Moorgate, Ruff Lane and Railway Approach.”
