Paraglider Found With Injuries After Going Missing In Grasmere

A paraglider who went missing during a paraglide in Grasmere has been found confirm Cumbria Police.

Last night an appeal was made for the 34-year-old from Oxfordshire. In a statement Cumbria Police said:

Police are currently trying to locate a paraglider who has gone missing in the Grasmere area.

Matthew Thornton, 34, from Oxfordshire has been staying in the Grasmere area and earlier today (29 Oct) went to go paragliding in the Grasmere Heron Pike / Great Rigg / Fairfield area.

The last contact with him was at around 12.30pm when he said he was going to attempt to paraglide as far as he could back to Grasmere. However, it is not known which fell he set off paragliding from.

Matthew was last seen wearing black shorts and a pale blue top.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who suspects they may have seen Matthew since 12.30pm or anyone else who may have information which could assist.

They have since confirmed that the man has been found with injuries and has been taken to hospital for treatment.
