The collision happened around 6am this morning at Junction 6 on the southbound carriageway
Congestion is expected on the M61 this morning due to an earlier collision
The collision happened on the M61 Southbound near Junction 6 around 6am. This is causing congestion up to Rivington Services.
We understand the collision to involve an overturned vehicle. It is not known if anyone sustained any injuries.

“Slow traffic due to earlier crash on M61 Southbound before J6 A6027 De Havilland Way (Horwich).
Congestion to Rivington Services. Traffic was briefly held. All lanes have re-opened. Residual delays remain.
