Two Arrested After Shotgun Discovered At Darwen Property

Two men have been arrested following the discovery of a firearm and ammunition in Darwen town centre.

Armed Police descended on the residential property in Croft Street on Tuesday afternoon and confirmed a shotgun along with ammunition was recovered.

Shocked onlookers took to social media to express their concerns about the large police presence and crime scene investigators.

The force confirmed that a man from West Yorkshire and a man from Darwen were arrested on suspicion of firearm offences and remain in custody for questioning.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said:

“Two people have been arrested after a firearm was found at an address in Darwen.

Police were called to Croft Street yesterday (Tuesday, October 22), where we recovered a shotgun and a quantity of ammunition.

A man in his 30s from Keighley, West Yorkshire and a man in his 40s from Darwen have been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and are currently in custody.

Enquiries are ongoing.”
