Firefighters are currently dealing with a fire at a pub in Plumley, Knutsford.
The fire happened at the Smokers Pub on the A556 Chester Road in Plumley shortly after 5pm on Wednesday evening.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service said:
“Firefighters are currently at the scene of a fire involving a thatched public house. A full evacuation of the building has taken place. Police have closed both sides of the A556 while the incident is being dealt with and the M6 slip roads at junction 19 were closed in both directions.
Fire engines from Middlewich, Winsford, Northwich, Macclesfield and two from Irlam and Altricham (Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service), and an aerial ladder platform from Lymm and the Scorpion High Reach Extending Turret (HRET) plus relief crews from Chester, Penketh and Crewe were dispatched to the incident.
The fire involves the roof of the premises, and two hose reels are being used to fight the fire, one on the exterior of the building and one inside.

People are kindly being asked to avoid the area due to heavy traffic and smoke.
Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service have since provided the following update:
“Firefighters are making good progress and have created a fire break in the roof to help stop the spread of fire. They are using a ladder and height safety equipment to access the area from the ground and the aerial ladder platform is in use getting water to the fire from above.
The road remains closed in both directions. The area is also heavily smoke logged.
