Motorists are being advised to find alternative routes this afternoon.
A car has burst into flames this afternoon on the M55 Motorway.
Motorists are being advised to find alternative routes as severe delays are expected on the M55 Eastbound whilst emergency services deal with the incident.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said:
“We want to update you and let you know that M55 J2 Eastbound is currently experiencing heavy delays due to a vehicle catching fire.
We anticipate that the delays will be in place for a short while whilst we assess the situation.
In the meantime, we’d recommend looking for an alternative route and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination.
We’ll keep tabs on what’s happening and we’ll update you here once the motorway is cleared.
As always, thank you for your patience and stay safe if you’re out and about today.
