Lancashire Police expect the closure to be in place for some time.
Motorists are being advised to plan their route accordingly this morning due to traffic delays on the M65 Motorway.
Emergency services are currently dealing with a road traffic collision and a vehicle fire on the M65 between Junction 13 and Junction 14.
A lane closure is in place to allow emergency services to deal with the collision and make the area safe.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said:
“We want to update you and let you know that lane 1 of M65 Westbound between junctions 13 and 14 is currently closed due to a road traffic collision and vehicle fire.
We anticipate that the lane will be closed for some time, whilst we make sure the road is safe and clear.
In the meantime, we’d recommend looking for an alternative route and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination.
We’ll keep tabs on what’s happening and we’ll update you here once we know more.”
