A man has been charged with child abduction and grooming offences following a traffic stop in Blackpool.

Officers from Blackpool Police stopped a car in Clifton Drive North after noticing it had a defective light and showing as having no MOT.

They soon became suspicious of a teenage passenger within the vehicle and after further checks, arrested the driver for a number of offences.

In a statement released today, Lancashire Police said,

“We know you like it when we keep you updated about arrests and charges, so we thought we’d let you know about the outcome of a roadside stop in Blackpool.

Our officers came across a vehicle in Clifton Drive North which had a defective light and was showing as having no MOT.

When our officers went to speak to the driver, they had some concerns about the welfare of the female teenage passenger.

Following enquiries, the driver of the car – a 33-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent – was arrested.

After consulting with the Crown Prosecution Service, we have charged Ben Bryan, 33, of Bank Road, Werrington, Stoke-on-Trent, with child abduction and grooming. He has been remanded into custody and will appear at Lancaster Magistrates Court in due course.”
