A major search operation was launched on Sunday morning after two teenage boys were found unwell

Two teenage boys were found unwell on Sunday morning close to the River Freshney in Grimsby.

Humberside Police launched a major search operation shortly after 5am.

In an updated  statement released this morning, Humberside Police said:

“Officers were called to attend the River Freshney shortly after 5am yesterday morning, Sunday 20 October after two teenage boys were found unwell.

A scene guard was put in place after concerns were raised of other teenagers potentially unwell and having entered the water. 

Specialist officers and partner agencies carried out searches in the area to established if anybody else required assistance.

Following a thorough search and additional lines of enquiry it was established that two other teenagers were at home safe and well.

The two teenagers boys were taken to hospital for injuries that are not thought to be life threatening.”
