Six people have been arrested so far as apart of the investigation
Detectives investigating a shooting that left a teenager with life changing injuries have made two more arrests.
A man in his 20s amd a 17-year-old boy remain in custody on suspicion of attempted murder. A 16-year-old boy was charged with attempted murder earlier this week.
In a statement released today, Greater Manchester Police said,
“Today (Thursday 17 October 2024), we have arrested a man in his 20s and a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted murder in relation to a firearms discharge that took place on Hampden Crescent, Gorton, on Monday 7 October.
The victim, a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital with life changing injuries.
This arrest takes the count up to six in total, with officers from our Major Incident Team securing a charge of attempted murder against a 16-year-old on Sunday 13 October 2024.
An 18-year-old remains on bail pending further enquiries.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Louise Edwards from our Major Incident Team said: “10 days have now passed since this incident took place and we have been working tirelessly to identify those responsible. The investigation is progressing quickly and today we have made two further arrests as we seek justice for the victim.
“Work is ongoing to recover firearms throughout Greater Manchester, with nearly 250 having been recovered in the last three years. The recoveries will have undoubtedly prevented other critical or fatal incidents.
