Rain continues to batter Lancashire causing travel disruption for some parts

Heavy rainfall has caused disruption to road users across Lancashire today with more rainfall expected overnight.

A number of road closures are in place due to standing water and Lancashire Police have warned drivers to take extra care when out and about on the county’s roads.

Over in Lancaster a car has become stuck under a bridge on Hazelrigg Lane after attempting to drive through flood water earlier this afternoon.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said:

Please be aware that Hazelrigg Lane, Lancaster, is currently closed between the junctions with the A6 and Blea Tarn Road.

This is due to flood water under the bridge and a vehicle becoming stuck.”

They continued by saying,

“Please remember to take extra care when driving and avoid driving through flood water as this can put yourself and others at risk.”
