A car lost control before colliding with the barriers before spinning out into the middle of the carriageway
A large emergency service response was scrambled to a collision on Wednesday evening.
The collision that happened on Edith Rigby Way forced both carriageways to be closed whilst emergency services dealt with the incident at around 6pm.
Footage from the scene shows a car that looks like a VW Golf lose control and collide with the barriers before spinning out into the middle of the carriageway.
The collision caused long delays for motorists during rush hour traffic.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said on social media earlier:
“Please be aware that Edith Rigby Way, Preston is currently closed in both directions between A583 Blackpool Rd and Avice Pimblett Way following a Road Traffic Collision.
Please find an alternative route where possible.”
AA Live Traffic is still showing the road as closed tonight.
Road closed due to crash on A582 Edith Rigby Way Southbound from B5468 Avice Pimblett Way to A583 Riversway.
Lancashire Police later confirmed that a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.
