An 18-year-old man was arrested following a 3 hour stand-off with Police

Specially trained officers attended the incident on Wednesday evening in Lancaster.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested following negotiations with police at an address on Wellington Road, Lancaster.

Rumours posted online speculated that a crossbow was involved, Lancashire Police have since confirmed this to be untrue.

In a statement released tonight, Lancashire Police said,

“We are aware that there has been some talk in the community and on social media about an incident in Lancaster earlier this evening and we wanted to let you know what had happened.

We were called at about 6.30pm to a report of a concern for welfare of a man inside an address on Wellington Road in the city. Officers attended and a cordon was put on around the address while specially trained officers negotiated with him.

At shortly after 9.30pm the incident was resolved, and an 18-year-old man was detained.

No-one was injured during the incident and rumours that there was a man in the street armed with a crossbow are not true.

Many thanks to everyone in the local area for their patience and understanding while we dealt with what was a complex and fast-moving and dynamic incident.
