15-year-old Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Murder After Teen Shot In Manchester

A 15-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a shooting in Manchester.

In a statenent released on Monday, Greater Manchester Police said,

“At approximately 5:45pm this evening (7 October), officers were called to reports of a firearms discharge on Hampden Crescent in Manchester. A 19-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries although these are not believed to be life-threatening.

Two males aged 15 and 21 have been arrested on suspicion of attempt murder and remain in custody for questioning.

Detective Superintendent Gareth Jenkins said: “The shooting that occurred earlier this evening will understandably cause concern within the community, however our investigation is moving at pace and two arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

“I would like to reassure the community that this is believed to be a targeted attack with no wider risk to the public. Extra patrols have been deployed for reassurance and I would urge anyone with concerns, or information to share, to speak with them.

“Likewise if you have any footage that could aid our investigation – whether it be CCTV, doorbell or dashcam – please make a report. Guns have no place on our streets and we are determined to hold those responsible for this senseless act to account.
