A serial thief from Blackburn finds himself back before the courts after being charged with theft from motor vehicles.

Bernard Rawstrons’ latest offences took place in Chorley over the weekend when officers stopped a man acting suspiciously and found him in possession of various items including a sat nav and sunglasses.

In an update posted today, Chorley Police said,

“We have charged a man with a number of offences following thefts from vehicles in Chorley.

Whilst out on patrol in the Buckshaw Village area in the early hours of Saturday (5th October, 2024), officers stopped a man who was acting suspiciously on Horseshoe Drive.

Following a search, items, including a Sat Nav and a pair of designer sunglasses, were discovered and seized by officers and a 49-year-old man was arrested.

Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Bernard Rawstron, 49, of Leach Street, Blackburn has been charged with three counts of theft from a motor vehicle, three counts of vehicle interference and assault with intent to resist arrest.

He appeared before Preston Magistrates Court and was handed an 18 month prison sentence.
