Young Man Dies In Hospital Following Darwen Collision

A man has sadly died in hospital following a collision in Darwen.

The collision happened back in September on Broke Stone Road, Darwen, when a Seat Ibiza collided with a Toyota Prius before colliding with a  building and overturning.

The passenger in the Seat Ibiza, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and has since very sadly passed away from his injuries.

In a statement released this evening, Lancashire Police said,

“We have some sad news to bring you tonight following a serious road traffic collision in Blackburn on 20th September.

Emergency services were called at 8.55pm to Broken Stone Road, Darwen, at the crossroads junction with Bog Height Road, Heys Lane and Tockholes Road, to a report of a collision.
Our officers attended and found that a Seat Ibiza car had been in collision with a Toyota Prius.
The Seat Ibiza then collided with a building and overturned.

The passenger in the Seat Ibiza, a man in his 20s, suffered serious injuries and was in a critical condition in hospital. He has now sadly died.

The driver of the Seat Ibiza suffered serious injuries and is being treated in hospital.
The driver and passenger of the Toyota Prius both suffered minor injuries.

Sgt Laura Kendall of our Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a collision which has very sadly resulted in a man losing his life. First and foremost my thoughts are very much with his family at this incredibly distressing time. They are being supported by specialist officers.

“As we investigate the collision, we want to hear from anyone who witnessed it or was in the area around the time and has dashcam/CCTV footage.
