West Yorkshire Police Officer Charged With Rape

A West Yorkshire Police officer has been charged with rape against a woman, which is alleged to have taken place back in January.

Following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct the officer who worked in the Leeds District has been suspended from duties and will appear in court on Friday.

In a statement released today, West Yorkshire Police said,

“A West Yorkshire Police officer has been charged with an offence of rape.

PC Jo Lavender, aged 42, who is based in Leeds District, has been charged with one count of rape and is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court on Friday, 4 October. 

It relates to an off-duty offence against an adult female in January this year.

He has been suspended from duty since the commencement of the investigation by West Yorkshire Police’s Professional Standards Directorate.
