Preston Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Robbery After Van Crashes Into Jewellers

The incident happened yesterday afternoon at a jewellers on Fishergate in Preston.

A man has been arrested for various offences after a Ford transit van smashed into the shop front of a jewellers yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened at the Whittles Jewellers in Fishergate, Preston City Centre, at around 5:30pm.

The 38-year-old Preston Man was arrested after the shop that sells high valued jewellery was damaged following the ram raid.

He was arrested on suspicion of Robbery and driving offences.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said,

“We were called shortly after 5.30pm yesterday to reports that a van had been driven into the front of Whittles Jewellers on Fishergate.

A 38-year-old man from Preston was arrested on suspicion of robbery, dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drink or drugs, failing to provide a breath test and assault on police. He remains in custody.

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should call the police on 101 quoting log 0980 of September 30.
