Police made the discovery following a concern for welfare call.
A man had been arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a woman’s body at a property on Kirkdale this morning.
In a statement released today, Merseyside Police said,
“We can confirm emergency services were called to a concern for safety of a woman in Kirkdale this morning, Friday 27 September.
At around 8.05am a report was received of a concern for safety of a woman in her 40s at an address on Brewster Street.
She was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics and has yet to be formally identified.
Officers are conducting house to house enquiries in the area and a forensic examination of the scene is taking place.
A post-mortem examination will take place to establish her cause of death.
A 46-year-old man from Sefton has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He has been taken into custody to be questioned.
Detective Inspector Sara Lang said: “I would really like to urge anyone who may be a victim of domestic abuse, or know someone who is a victim, to please reach out for help.
“We take reports of domestic abuse extremely seriously, and we are here to listen and support you and bring perpetrators to justice.”
