Officers received a report of a body being seen on the side of the canal earlier today.
Police searching for missing Norman Buchanan, 70, from Nelson have sadly found a body.
Officers from Lancashire Police launched an appeal to help find Norman earlier today.
In a statement released this evening Lancashire Police said,
“We’ve some sad news to bring you this evening I’m afraid.
Earlier we asked for your help to find Norman Buchanan, 70, who was missing from home in Nelson.
Sadly, we received a call earlier today to report a body had been seen on the side of the canal near Slipper Hill at Foulridge.
Patrols attended and the body has now been confirmed as Norman.
