Preston Man Charged After Machete Found In Garden

The 18-year-old will appear before Magistrates Court this afternoon.

An 18-year-old man has been charged after police found a machete in a nearby garden following a foot chase in Preston.

In a statement released today, Lancashire Police said,

“We have charged a man with possession of a knife after being stopped by officers in Preston.

Yesterday, Wednesday 25th September, officers from Preston Response and Neighbourhood Policing Team were called to a report of suspicious circumstances in the Avenham area.

On arrival, and after spotting officers, a man tried to run away and was stopped by officers. A machete was found discarded in a garden nearby and an 18-year-old man was arrested.

Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Tyreese Samuels-West, 18, of Lulworth Avenue, Ashton, has been charged with possession of a knife in a public place and will appear at Preston magistrates Court this afternoon.

Operation Warrior is Lancashire Police’s response to tackling serious and organised crime in Lancashire, supported by Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw.

It aims to target the individuals and gangs involved in crime, as well as associated issues such as violence and intimidation, large scale drug supply, exploitation, and fraud, all of which can cause serious harm to local communities.
