Michael Wheeler went missing more than a month ago. Four men have been charged with his murder.
Detectives investigating the disappearance of Michael Wheeler who went missing more than a month ago in Yeovil have found a body.
Four men have since been charged with murder and appeared at Magistrates Court today, Thursday 26th September and have been remanded into custody to appear at Bristol Crown Court on Friday.
They are David Garland, 39, and Jack Rance, 28, both of no fixed abode, Mark Roberts, 38, and Reuben Clare, 18, both of Yeovil.
In a statement released today, Avon and Somerset Police said,
“Police searching for Michael Wheeler, who disappeared a month ago, have discovered a body.
Acting on intelligence, officers searched a property in Yarlington, near Wincanton, on Wednesday afternoon, 25 September.
A specialist search dog indicated at the location and crime scene investigators will now examine the site.
Michael’s family have been updated and our thoughts are with them. They continue to be supported by specially trained officers.
Four men appeared at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday charged with murder, and were remanded in custody pending a further hearing at Bristol Crown Court on Friday 27 September.
Another man who was arrested last week has been re-arrested and remains in police custody today, Thursday 26 September.
Officers arrested two more men on Wednesday on suspicion of assisting an offender. One remains in police custody and the other has been released under investigation.
Two people remain on police bail – a man who was arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday, and a woman who was previously arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Enquiries – led by the Major Crime Investigation Team – continue, and detectives would still like to hear from anyone with information.
