A ban on Zombie knives came into effect at midnight.
A man is thought to be the first in the UK to be arrested as part of the new zombie knife law that came into effect at midnight, banning people from possessing the knives even in a private property.
In a post made today, Thames Valley Police said,
“Just twenty-two minutes into the law coming into effect, Thames Valley Police arrested a man at a property in Oxford on suspicion of possessing a bladed article and affray.
Within 22 minutes of new legislation coming into force banning Zombie knives in the UK, officers in Oxford made an arrest.
Following attendance at an address in the city, at 12.22am this morning (24/9) a Zombie knife was located during a property search.
A 29-year-old man from Oxford has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a private place and affray and he remains in police custody at this time.
The arrest relates to an investigation into an affray, which occurred in the city on 29 August.
